This is some of the branding for the Kurokawa Coffee shop. It is inspired by traditional Japanese architecture and letterforms. It uses pale, desaturated colors to create a calm and relaxing environment and to further bring out the pop of red. The white creates stark contrast with the black mimicking ink to draw Japanese kanji. Each blend of their in-house coffee would also have its own respective kanji related to its blend. The dark roast coffee is labeled with the kanji that means black, the house blend is labeled with with the kanji that means house or home. In Japanese culture, the sakura is representative of spirituality, growth, and longevity, which speaks to the peaceful, relaxing environment of the coffee shop.
